mike pearce & sons home products trw buse esjot morris battery controller others racing contact wholesale importers and distributors to the motorcycle trade we supply a wide range of high quality motorcycle products to the uk dealer network post navigation ← older posts matt pearce racing – rain and shine at oulton park june 27, 2013 thundersportgb formula 600 race 1 – 11th race 2 – 9th oulton park has long been my favourite circuit, and this weekend did not disappoint. a slightly different format for thundersportgb (due to oulton park’s sunday noise limits) meant we had qualifying on friday afternoon and 2 races on saturday. the friday morning was put over to testing, and we made the most of that track time and the great weather we had to really learn a whole load more about the bike and the circuit. it was sunny and hot for friday afternoon qualifying, and i went out determined to make the most of the session. i managed to knock nearly 2 seconds of my previous best time from the morning sessions, and finished the session in the best position this year in the full sportsman elite grid, which equated to 9th formula 600. obviously, this was a great result, and i was happy with the day’s work! saturday morning the weather had changed, and all was wet. we had showers on and off, and we felt that the tyre choice would have to be wets. however, the race was delayed, and during that delay the wind was up and the sun came out – although the paddock was still damp, the track was 90% dry, save for 2 very wet corners, bizarrely! nearly all the bikes were on wets though, so it was a pretty even field. i got a good start, and the first lap was full of overtaking, both for and against me, as everyone got a feel for the track. as the track dried out, though, i started to struggle to keep with the pace as my full wet setup made the bike a bit soft at the higher speeds! towards the end, some of the riders who had gambled on dries started to get the grip they needed and i lost a couple of places to them. still, i finished in 11th formula 600, so more points on the board. by the time the 2nd race came along, all had dried up and so i was keen to get back out and continue the progress i had been making during the friday test and qualifying. i made a fantastic start, and jumped nearly 2 rows. this made the first lap a little crazy, as the pace was much higher – i did my best to keep up, riding much better than i have yet on this bike, and every lap learning more. although i gradually slid back down the order slightly, i did finish higher than my grid position, and was home as 9th formula 600. i came away from the weekend with points in all races again, and my consistency is really paying dividends as i am still 6th in the championship, despite a good number of extra supersport riders topping the results sheets and winning big points totals! i had a great time on the bike, and really started to get a feel for how it handles whilst putting in the quick times. i am looking forward to getting back out at rockingham on 27th/28th july – another new track for me but i can’t wait. http://mattpearceracing.co.uk tough weekend for repli-cast at knockhill june 18, 2013 team repli-cast uk racing headed up to scotland this weekend for round four of the monster energy motostar championship at knockhill. follow link for full report: http://www.repli-castukracing.co.uk/news.html costilla joins team repli-cast for the monster energy motostar championship team repli-cast uk racing is pleased to announce that it has agreed terms to secure the services of daniel costilla for the remaining 2013 monster energy motostar championship. american racer daniel will be joining the team on board the honda 125gp machine. follow link for full report: http://www.repli-castukracing.co.uk/news.html sean neary racing report – donington park world superbikes may 30, 2013 race report – round 2 – donington it seems like brands hatch was more like a year ago rather than a month so i was eagerly anticipating donington park. donington was my weakest track last year due to a lack of track knowledge. (last year was my first visit to donington)i now feel i have a much better understanding of the track and i now really enjoy riding the fast sections of the circuit! practice was interesting on friday as we were waiting around all day until our session at 5pm and then as we were about to exit pit lane the heavens opened. with us all being on dry tyres we turned around and headed back to the paddock. we woke up on saturday morning to clear blue skies and being first on track for qualifying at 9am was very welcomed. we changed the rear shock spring on friday so solve some issues we have been having and it was a pity we didn’t get the practice session to get this dialled in. that said we finished qualifying in 11th place after the session was stopped early after a big accident for mike edwards. fingers crossed mike can build a new bike over the coming weeks and his fingers repair quickly! race 1 4 laps into race 1 our brake issues reared its ugly head and we lost brake power. this is due to the brakes overheating. we have tried to buy a replacement seal kit for the brembo calipers however ducati only sell new calipers @ £400 each side rather than selling a replacement seal which would probably cost around £3.00!!! that’s ducati for you. since brands hatch we have changed the master cyclinder, brake lines and also upgraded our brake fluid thanks to motul lubricants. we managed to limp home in 9th in race 1 to score some solid points. thanks to some advice from multiple champions jhp we tried some alternative brake pads for race 2. race 2 a blinding start saw me up to about 6th place in the first corner and with the leading group. things were going well until about 5 laps into the race where i kept losing rear grip on the right hand side of the tyre. i persevered for a few laps until two near fast crashes where the rear was letting go with no warnings forced me to pit. the rear slides throughout any race but this felt different as it would let go with no warnings which led me to think there was oil on my rear tyre. once i had this in my head i didn’t feel i could carry on as there are so many fast right hand corners at donington. we pitted and couldn’t find any oil on the tyre but it was evident the rear tyre was not being made to work. on a more positive note i set my personal best time around donington and we seem to have reduced the braking issues using the new pads so we have something to take away. obviously i am looking for better results which i know we are capable of. we need to go away and test now we have the stiffer rear spring and we should be able to improve the set up and particularly rear grip. matt pearce racing – cadwell may 29, 2013 glorious cadwell park brings sunshine and more points thundersportgb formula 600 race 1 – 12th race 2 – 12th race 3 – 10th championship position – 6th i was looking forward to cadwell park as a circuit i really enjoy, and also the first place this year where would be able to properly compare the new bike to last year’s, in comparable conditions. the first session out on track, in glorious sunshine that lasted all weekend, was saturday qualifying. as i had not done the test day on the friday, the first half of the session was just about getting settled, checking the setup wasn’t too far out and preparing to put some decent lap times in towards the end. i had done all the settling in just fine, and was about to go for a proper flying lap when, at the hairpin, i ground the bike on one of the notoriously high cadwell kerbs, and was sent sliding into the countryside. not the qualifying session i had hoped for! no major damage was done though, and after some new footpegs, and bit of covering scratches and removal of grass, i was ready for the first race – albeit near the back of the grid. i didn’t get a brilliant start in the first race, and was working hard to pass the riders
